I think it's safe to say that the Star Wars Roleplaying Game published by West End Games
was one of the greatest and most popular RPG's of all time. However, gross mismanagement of
finances by the parent company of WEG (who shall remain nameless to avoid a lawsuit) resulted
in the bankruptcy of WEG before they had an opportunity to produce a sourcebook for Episode I:
The Phantom Menace. What do you say about something like that?
I'd call it a tragedy.
This summer my roommate Matthew
Schenck and I logged many hours of free time producing this body of work, which we lovingly
called the Phantom Menace Project. It details as many characters from the movie as we felt we
could accurately reproduce given the limited information we had available for some of them.
Since the completion (such as it is) of the PMP, an article was published in Inquest Magazine
by former WEG writer Paul Sudlow that detailed the Star Wars RPG statistics for Darth Maul, Obiwan
Kenobi, Queen Amidala, Anakin Skywalker, and the Battle Droids. I highly reccommend this work if
you can find it and I fully intend to harrass Mr. Sudlow to produce more such work. Still, for
the sake of our own egos, Matt and I have included our versions of these characters in the work
below. All files are in rich text format so that they may be viewed by users of both PC's (rock!)
and Macs (suck!).
This work is obviously far from complete. There are many characters whom we could not accurately
convert to RPG format due to limited information. It is our hope that as additional Phantom
Menace-era fiction becomes available, we will be able to add to this listing. Please feel free
to contact us with either criticism or
submissions.
